Ground states for the nonlinear Schrödinger-equation with interface

Abstract: We are interested in ground states for the nonlinear
Schrödinger-equation (NLS) with an interface between two purely periodic
media. This means that the coefficients in the NLS model two different
periodic media in each halfspace. The resulting problem no longer has a
periodic structure. Using variational methods we give conditions on the
coefficients such that ground states are created/prevented by the
interface.
