About the workshop:

Various problems in science and engineering can be formulated as boundary integral equations. These are numerically solved by the boundary element method. For example, the boundary element method is the favourable approach for the treatment of exterior boundary value problems, as the infinite expansion of the domain does not pose a problem for the discretization anymore. This is particularly desirable for simulations in electromagnetics or in case of the Helmholtz equation.

The solution of a boundary integral equation often exposes local features, like for example edge or vertex singularities. Thus, adaptive procedures become important to automatically refine, coarsen, or relocate a mesh to generate the solution with a given target accuracy in optimal fashion. This workshop intends to bring together leading experts in adaptive boundary element methods.

Arrival at Badischer Bahnhof: Take the tram number 6 (direction Allschwil) to Schifflände

Arrival at main station (Basel SBB): Take the tram number 8 (direction Kleinhüningen/Weil am Rhein) or the tram number 11 (direction St-Louis Grenze) to Schifflände.

Plane:

Arrival at Basel-Moulhouse: Take the bus number 50 to Kannenfeldplatz, change to the bus number 36 (direction Schifflände) to Schifflände.

Arrival at Zürich: There is a direct train to Basel SBB, afterwards proceed as described in Section Train.
